Did He Hurt You or Did You Hurt Yourself?

Too many Kittitian women love like idiots. I guess that could be said of women all over the world, but particularly the areas of the world where women are free to love as they choose. Too many Kittitian woman think they are in love because their eyes click on a man with "abs". Some even think they are in love because the man is of fair complexion and has hair styled in corn-row plaits. Others are not in love with the man himself, but with the way he grooms his dreadlocks, and some are in love- and deeply in love- over a period of fewer than two hours. If you have the right American or Jamaican accent, drive the right kind of car- rented or borrowed-,dress in the right color of shirt with whatever written on it, you can have a woman in your home, your mother's home or your hotel room before the day is over. Again this may not be particularly unique to St. Kitts, but it happens far too often over here.
They do this because they swear they are in love. They can feel all the feelings they associate with love too, and they give you whatever people in love are supposed to give the people they are in love with. In a few weeks they are calling you on your job in NYC, if you gave them the correct number for your I-phone, telling you that they are pregnant with your baby. You are shocked because you have your wife and children, and you assumed she must have imagined so, but you are wrong, because love and thought are not supposed to go together over here for many of these women. It is just love and nothing else. No thinking is supposed to interrupt this sweet flow of fate, especially in a highly religious society where every single soul is "blessed" no matter what, and can be convinced in a few seconds that you are the one sent by God for her if you mention Jesus three times during one conversation.
It is always unfortunate when men take advantage of the naivety of sun drenched women in the Caribbean when they come here on short holidays, but these women are responsible for their own well being as well. They need to be patient and put this love talk and love feeling on pause. Get to know people before you sleep with them and end up in their hotel rooms or their parents' and friends' homes. It should not be a hard thing to do.
I met a woman from another Caribbean island by chance  a few days ago on the streets of down town Basseterre, and in fewer than twenty four-hours she was convinced that she was in love with me. I ran like a jack-rabbit that had spotted a pit-bull on an open field. Women must learn to do the same thing, because they are far more vulnerable than their male counterparts, if for no other reason than that we cannot become pregnant.
